Solar water distillation unit

Now people at Korobwaai and Santo Iotebwa, including preschoolers, will benefit from cleaner water following local solar water distillation installations. This follows the first solar water distillation unit installed at Santo Iotebwa.

Australian Deputy High Commissioner Mr Tim Gill joined the installation team and community members during the installation work. Mr Gill spoke with some of the preschool teachers at Korobwaai who shared in excitement about the new units. One of the Santo Iotebwa elders expressed his gratitude during our consultation.

“Water is our main source of life. Support like this is vital for healthy growth, especially since our children will be primarily benefiting from this support through our preschool.” Community members were consulted and agreed on the selected sites. More solar water distillation units are planned around Kiribati, keep an eye out for more stories. This initiative for the people of Kiribati is supported by the Australian Government and is implemented by ChildFund and Green Living.
